Scholarship — Project Iqra

Free education for Dhoraji Memon students — so that money is never the reason a child stops studying.

Iqra — “Read” — is the first word revealed in the Holy Quran, and it is the name the Trust gave to its scholarship programme. The idea behind it is simple: a bright child should never have to leave school because a fee could not be paid.

Project Iqra offers free education for Dhoraji Memon students, through school, junior college and higher studies. Applications are reviewed case by case, and the assistance is renewed year after year for as long as the student keeps studying. Wherever possible the amount is paid straight to the institution, so it reaches the classroom rather than the household budget.

There is no fee to apply and nothing to repay. Families are asked only for the school or college fee receipt, the last mark sheet and proof of address.
