Formerly known as ‘the Textile man’ and now in the metal trade for over three decades, Mr. Ehsan Haji Amin Gadawala is Chairman of Ala International (India) Pvt Ltd and Advisor to the ALA Group worldwide.
He ventured into business in 1981 after graduating in Maharashtra, initially in the textile industry, where he was one of the pioneers from Gujarat. He diversified into the recycling industry in 1990, starting one division after another with a focus on metals. Under his leadership the company has grown by leaps and bounds, and his name is counted today among ‘the renowned recyclers’.
The company’s mission has always been to be a pioneer in recycling and to satisfy clients by offering the best quality and quantity, on time, within contractual terms and international norms. After building a successful business he turned to social activity, and to service within many associations and community organisations.

Metal recycling entrepreneur · Middle East, Asia and beyond
Muzammil Haji Amin has earned his name in the metal recycling industry as an individual whose entrepreneurial skill established his business not only in the Middle East and Asia but in almost every part of the globe.
He began showing his potential in business from a young age — the entrepreneurial gene carried down from his father. He was only 19 when he started trading alongside him. He used that opportunity to learn the recycling industry in India and the Middle East, and to build a network with suppliers and producers. Through years of hard work and perseverance his business became a leading trader and manufacturer in the recycling industry.
Recycling matters because it saves energy and protects the earth by handling scrap efficiently. Keeping this in mind he expanded beyond metals into plastic, paper and rubber recycling, and has addressed many national and international forums on commodities and recycling waste. His vision is to run the recycling industry in a more professional way.

Managing Director, Ala Metals LLC / Group
A businessman whose recycling career spans over 20 years, Sahim Haji Amin Gadawala is Managing Director of Ala Metals LLC / Group, handling sales across multiple regions. The journey was not an easy one.
Coming from a family where business runs in the genes, his instinct came without much book knowledge. His father — ultra-disciplined, strict and focused — made sure his sons learned business from the ground up. At sixteen he left his studies to assist the family business, and was made to work as an intern in a friend’s textile business for 14- to 16-hour shifts, without pay or privileges. Working alongside colleagues who struggled to make ends meet taught him that everyone must work harder, no exception.
At eighteen he moved to Ahmedabad to take care of a new family venture and learned the dynamics of different kinds of business. At twenty-one he lost his father — the backbone of the family. The family started as a small-scale agent within India, then moved to Dubai as a trader and yard processor, and expanded to the USA, Thailand, China and other countries. From a team of six they have grown to more than 65 people across multiple countries, and monthly volumes rose from 500 MT to more than 10,000 MT.
“Invest in relationships — business comes with relations.” — his father’s words, which he still repeats.
